| | Donkey Riding by Great Big Sea | ] | So, I get a call from my boss on Friday night. I worked a half day (more on why later) so I figured she came in and forgot how to get a program to go at work. Nope I really wish it was that. Apparently she got a call from our shipping manager April (I have spoken about her before). April's son shot another boy on Thanksgiving, point blank in the head, which killed him. They had arrested her boyfriend for letting the kid play with the gun that killed his nephew. They just bought a house together, signed the paperwork they day before Thanksgiving. I don't know if she's coming into work this week or not. I really don't blame her if she didn't. Honestly this isn't a surprise...sratch that it's a surprise it happened this early. My brother and I expected the kids would probably get mixed up with a gang when they were teens. The child hasn't been charged yet but unfortunately he had been expelled recently for threatening the life of another student. This isn't the first time. So I can't see this going well for him either. My personal problem with this is: I don't know what to say to her when she does come back to work. I can't act like nothing happened, but you can't just ask how's it going? I expect she'll do one of two things. Just come into work and not talk to anybody, or really like the attention and tell us all the gory details. I really wish she would get some middle gears. Sigh. This will be awkward. So on Wendsday I was in court for a traffic violation. That was fun. Ok, so lesson one: don't piss off cops, lesson two: find out about local laws on parking lot violations, lesson three: make sure to check out the local government website and see if your offens is waivable. I was backing out of a parking space at Giant Eagle the SUV I hit was backing up to get into a parking space. Accident ensues. I caused a foot long scratch on the bumper of the SUV, my car little or no damage. (My car wins!) Unfortunately the lady freaked since it was her husbands car so I called the cops. Now drilled into my head since I learned how to drive: after an accident you call the cops then your insurance. Which I did. The cop comes and says I should just exchange information and write the lady a blank check to just fix the damage. I looked at him weird and said I already called my insurance and gave the other driver the info. This is why I have insurance. He let loose a tirade about how my rates are going to go up and put this lady through insurance hell and that I did everything wrong. He said I would end up paying for it anyway since my insurance deductable won't cover it. Again I looked at him weird and said I had full collision, accident forgiveness and she also had State Farm so it shouldn't be a problem. So in short he had no idea what he was talking about. This apparently pissed him off. So he gave me a ticket (which I didn't know that what a legal thing since in Bedford, Bedford Heights, Oakwood, Walton Hills, Solon, and Independence you can't be ticketed on private property) and checked I had to make a personal apperance. I didn't check the Garfield Heights website until the night before court and found out this is a waivable offense. So long story shorter...I went to court the ballif (?) told me to go waive the ticket, I went to the cashier she said the ticket said personal appearence so go to the clerk, clerk and chief of police looked at my ticket said they would talk to the officer but they couldn't change it now. So off to court. (I had taken a half day off of work because I didn't know how long this would take). I was the third person called plead guilty got a fined judgement and paid then left. It wasn't that bad. Walking to my car (the parking lot was full so people had to park on the street where 2 cops were ticketing people park illegally) a little old man was walking up the road. He didn't look good. I walked up and asked how he was doing. He said he was short of breath and charly horsing his legs. He said he took too much insulin today. I looked as his lips which were blue. I told him he needed to stop moving and I would call 911. He then passed out. Deciding 911 wouldn't be fast enough and there were 2 cops not really doing anything particullarly important I went running up the street to get them to help. It took what seemed like forever before I got their attention. I really hope I never need immediate help in this town becuase the cops suck. If a young woman in a skirt screaming her head off waving her hands don't get their attention I don't know what will. Maybe if I had a doughnut. Anyway they loaded the guy up after I told them the symptoms and took him to Marymount. And I got to work at 10:30AM, so I felt it was a good day after all. God I was high on adreline after that. So that's it for me I will probably update in another month ;) |

| Sewing excitement |
[Oct. 1st, 2006|11:26 pm] |
Hello all. The mermaid costume is really taking shape. The sewing parts are done now I have to add trim. The first top I made didn't turn out well the fabric unraveled as I had to seam rip or even work with it. I picked up some free fabric from Angie and a lovely blue fabric worked so much better. I finally figured out zippers too. Still not fond nor would I go out of my way to put one in if I didn't have to but I think I understand it now. Over all I think it's turning out well. |

| | Theme from Star Wars | ] | OK so I hate zippers. To be fair though I should have looked at my sewing machine's manual first. I tried the skirt first and ended up sewing the zipper inside out and upside down. It was impressive. I then did the top but the sewing was all over the place and looked hideous. I seam ripped everything out today and tried again, this time after looking through the manual. I found the zipper foot for this machine and followed the instructions. It went better this time except while following the picture in the book I forgot to turn the zipper around so I sewed it outside in. I have decided to call this a feature since I don't think either fabric could handle another seam ripping. The sewing could have been cleaner but the zipper is hidden and overall looks clean. Still not getting the zipper foot thang. It's funny I didn't know what a zipper foot looked like until tonight. I bought a 1883 White sewing machine from an estate sale on my parents street. I knew the neighbor that had passed and she was a professional seamstress. In the sewing machine drawers was a box full of sewing feet. They all look like little torture devices, I have no idea what they are for. Jason found them one time and we had a fun hour trying to guess what each one was for. Quite amusing... |

| | "This is how a heart breaks" | ] | The mermaid costume is coming along nicely. I just spent 2 hours at Joann Fabrics picking out fun fabrics and trim. I'll post my progress as I get things done. It's funny both the top and bottom will have zippers. I tend to stay away from zippers mostly because of the SCA. We don't have zippers in period garb (or at least we shouldn't) so I haven't really worked with zippers in a few years. This should be an adventure since the entire outfit is also linned. Just sent the bid for the event in today we will see how that goes... Spent the day with my family yesterday. We went to South Bass Island to see Put in Bay. It was a lot of fun. It was cold wet and cloudy but my Dad got to talk to a lot of new people, Mom got to buy fudge and play miniture golf and my sister got to spend the day with us. There was only one incident were Terri and Dad got snippy with each other but overall not a bad day. I brought the John Denver CD to play on the way there and back. Poor Jason he got to hear my entire family belt out "Country Roads" at the top of our lungs. As he put it he could hear the song at every pitch it was an experience. I got to drive the golf cart He. (I paid for it I was driving it). Jason and I have been watching Ze Frank an online blog that is just awsome. Fun politcal and weirdness humor. One challenge to the audience was to have a fun week and dress your vaccum. Jason did and it was shown on the show. The sword shown was given to us by Jackie. As requested by Lubeck:

| | Dear Jesse by Madonna | ] | Finally got a chance to update. So I took a D&D alignment test Lubeck posted and it said I was Law Good. Now for anybody that has ever played D&D with me that should bring a chuckle. I normally play True Netural or Chaotic Evil. However, as Jason has pointed out to me before D&D is just another way for me to release stress and tension. I don't play video games to win I play things like Grand Theft Auto so I can beat someone to death with a baseball bat and run things over until the police kill me. I do this for about an hour and feel better. Yep, I don't know what's wrong with me either. So I have a costume in mind for a costume party I am going to. Since Jason is going as a pirate I'll be a mermaid. I think I have the costume planned out I just have to buy the fabric this weekend. I am taking my parents and sister to South Bass Island tomorrow. Uh, should be fun. We'll see if the weather cooperates. My Dad was actually excited. I think he's happy I am old enough to buy things now and rent a golf cart. The last time we were there as a family he made us walk from the docks to downtown Put-in-bay. It wasn't fun, then he wouldn't buy anything since it was all expensive. I told him Jason and I would rent the golf cart and buy them lunch. It's the little things with him... So it looks like we have an event site lined up for the A&S Regional It really is exciting. I am looking forward to running this with Gracie. We should be able to put together a fun event at a good price. THANK YOU ANGHARAD! It was so funny putting together the bid. I was trying to say "$125 for site with an additional $1 for more than 50 people." The first 5 times I wrote that it said "$125 for site and $1 more for people over 50." I don't know why I was trying to charge more for people over 50 I have no problem with older people. It just wouldn't come out right Jason had to say it to me correctly. I am going to blame this on genetics try talking to my Dad some time... Anyway to bed. |

| | depressed | ] | Apparently the inventory at work is horribly wrong again. AH doesn't understand why I get so upset that it's really wrong a lot. And she doesn't write anything down...or log it in. I tell a lady ordering some toddler and infant t shirts that we only have 7 left in the 18 month size. AH comes to my desk saying that size and the 6 month size are gone the lady will have to get all 12 month size. Inventory says we have 7 of the 18 month, which could be gone with samples and CW using them in tradeshows. But the 6 month size we're suppose to have 30 of them there is no way 30 dissappeared. We haven't sold this shirt in a year so AH should have seen we had no more of certain sizes and adjusted inventory accordingly. I would have made that adjustment but I asked her six months ago where the other sizes were she told me probably in a box on the top shelf. I took 2 hours searching through every box in that room and the basement and the t shirt room and the discounted shirt area. I finally found them in an unmarked box in a room we call Cydney's room because it has all of the stuff she saves and things from her house stored there. I only found 20 6 month t shirts and 1 18 month t shirt. Apparently they were pulled from stock because the picture on it is oval not a circle. They were never taken off of inventory because Cydney wasn't sure at the time if she wanted to sell them or not. This was 3 years ago. So for 3 years we haven't had these sizes on the shelf or in the right area at all. Aaaahrggg! Cydney could see I was pissed. We are doing an inventory count this winter. We are shutting down shipping and doing the damn inventory count. AH will not help me so she can go on vacation or clip her toenails for all I care. They have never counted their inventory. Cydney didn't think it was needed after everything got computerized. AH will not do it or can not do it. We are also not reprinting this damn shirt. |

| | Darth Vader's March | ] | So, we have a yellow jacket nest in the porch. No they didn't make a nest on the porch or on the roof or floor of the poarch I said IN the porch. The little buggers found a great opening too. We have two slots on our outside porch that let the water drain out they have a depth of 4 inches. Inside one of them is a 2 inch hole (which I thought was a blob of tar) is where they got in the side of the wall and apparently made a nest. I can hear them buzzing in the wall if I put my ear against it. We tried to spray with some raid but the angle it's at we can't get a clear shot into the hole. My father recommends soaking a cotton swab with raid and shove it into the hole. The hole is huge so I have some wool I think I'll use instead. If that doesn't work I am calling an exterminator. It was funny Jason and I have been so nervous looking for the hole my dad let me borrow a small mirror to use. When I first saw the hole I thought it was a blob of tar and ignored it looking around for the hole. I was wipping the mirror around so much I almost knocked over a yellow jacket walking out of the hole. Blah. So tonight's fun will be finishing off my boss's silly looking hat/scarf thing. Then get going on the Elizabethian I have been pondering. Hmmm...ruffs. Actually I should just finish the 13th Century French dress I started but I am very uninspired by it at the moment. The kittens are cranky it must be getting cooler again. They both love and hate the cold. I just really like cuddly kittens again. It is almost full dark...the battle will begin shortly.
See y'all at the ER :) |

And here is the second coat I made. One was a nice maroon color while this is obviously turquoise:
Since I didn't have a serger I did french seams where the collar attached. I also adjusted the buttons a little higher to give her more movement and room in the lower part of the jacket. The cuffs fit wonderfully. Overall pretty happy with both. At the end of the summer season Cydney wants me to remake a summer dress of hers should also be pretty simple.

| | Dancing Queen ABBA | ] | I am finally feeling well again. Jason and I worked in the yard yesterday and that triggered my allergies again but after resting I felt fine. God the yard needed cleaning up. We weedwacked the high grass and clipped the bushes and pulled weeds on the side of the house. We also ended the blackberry experiment. We planted it 2 years ago and it has always grown weird. It never really bushed it just created a big vine. I finally put it in an arbor this year and it started to look like a bush. But the bush part started to die and it started to grow a vine again. The blackberry bush also created the most sour blackberries ever. So out it went, we have also found another use for my fencing gloves. Get through cow hide you bugger. My mother in law's birthday party went well. It was on Saturday and miserable weather but everyone dresses accordingly and had a good time. Chris and I cleaned her house for her, took 4 hours but it looked great by the time we were done. I even cleaned all the glass from her china cabinet that she hasn't had time to redo after moving it. I don't know if she likes the way I arrianged things but I had to work with what I had. Chris and I figure we will clean her house for her every birthday to be her present. I am so OCD I've wanted to clean her place forever now I have :). The Croc Hunter died. I was very sad to hear it. Unfortunately not surprised by the death just how he died. I always figured something would eat him some day. This was such a freak accident. He pulled the barb out though it must have hurt like an SOB but he pulled it out. Amazing. So the coat saga continues...I have offically finished the first one and just made the second one tonight. It took 2 hours start to finish like I figured. The first one took me so long since I was getting used to the pattern and fabric. I have put the second in the dryer and once that's done I'll bag it all up for her. Pictures tomorrow... |

| | One Linkin Park | ] | Good I am almost over my migraine. This one wasn't really painful but made me feel very ill. I actually had some hunger pains when I woke up this afternoon. Vegetable soup is yummy. Gilder has been sleeping on me which is always nice. I think I have enough of the night left to put the buttons on my bosses coat and make some button holes. I looked at the pictures I took and it only appears to have 5 buttons on the front and 1 on each sleeve. So not too bad. I'll get this puppy wrapped up this weekend, and I'll see if I can't finish the other one too. Spiffy. Speaking of Spiffy our company started selling them this summer. They are tooth wipes for babies in different flavors. I sucked on each flavor they are all pretty nasty but the apple was the least offensive. It was funny I orginally found this company on the web and wrote in for a sample of the baby toothbruses. 3 months later they send us a box of each flavor of Spiffy. Not what I ordered. However Cydney got really excited and even more excited when she talked to thier company. Apparently they are just starting out and were really excited to get my letter. They thought we were a huge catalog company that would sell lots of their stuff. Oh dear. Cydney set them a little straight on that but they were still excited and gave us a case free. We have so far sold 40 cases more than any of their distributors. So I am happy about that. Onto sewing.... |

The cuffs have turned out really well I got the sewing all around really even and right on the egde. I have to say fleece is really nice fabric and shows seams really well. I showed the unfinished jacket to my boss today. I wanted to make sure the fit was right and I had adjusted the length on the sleeves. She grabed it from me and wouldn't take it off. Nor would she hold still long enough for me to check everything. She was running around with it all day and just rolled the sleeves up because she didn't want to ruin anything. I am glad she's happy. I'll be happier if she asked me not to put buttons on. I dare to dream. Went to the RCIA meeting today. It was kind of dumb for me to be there, but I did answer a few questions and showed a disturbing amount of bible knowledge. Fr. Pete had to assure the new guys that wasn't what they taught in the class and I went to a Jesuit college. How many games can you play and say you kicked Ghandi's ass? I really need to get finished with my 13th century French dress and start on the green Elizabethan dress. Maybe this weekend. I have so much going on this weekend. I am not helping with any SCA demos this weekend. I feel bad I try to do 2 a year but I am not feeling it this year. |

Anyway she picked out a burgandy color she actually seemed to tolerate and I make a coat out of that and see how it goes. Buttons and button holes will be worse part of this I think. Work goes on, April left early again and left me with 20 boxes to put lables on and half the evelvator full of trash. Luckily it wasn't raining when the Fed Ex guy came. Apparently she needed to leave early to fill out some paperwork for her son. Why she doesn't do this on any other day than Monday or a Friday...Monday's and Friday's are busiest for me and that's when she dumps her work. Aw well that is why I get paid well. Gilder makes a better door than a window. There we go cats should be on the floor or a lap not a desk. Cleaned a lot up yesterday went through some books and papers happily throwing things out. Found my old yearbooks from High School, God, I look like a dork. I read an article where the writer was asked if they would like to go back to high school. She pretty much said no but was happy she lived through the experience. I loathed high school however if I had to go back I would go back as I am now. I have a self esteem and confidence I never could have mustered in high school. If nothing else my hair looks so much better and I wear clothes that fit me. I would most likely be a bigger pain in the ass to the teachers and be able to tell one teacher to kiss my ass and happily serve in detention. Wow, I really wish I wasn't so uptight then or I would have gone with one of Chip's ideas. Ah well. My parents anniversary and brother's birthday was this weekend. My brother's 40 he's old (ha). Dad was going on about wanting to wait until their 50th anniversary to go to Hawaii but went last year because he didn't think he could walk in 4 years. Wow, what a killjoy. He's feeling old a friend of his has cancer and Dad isn't taking it so well. He's been overcompensating on different things. I wish I could spend more time with him but we have very limited things in common or to talk about. And I am not about to spend another day going through 3000 pennies looking for a penny made in Denver from 1950. Coin collecting is not my thing. We'll have to think about something else for both us to do. My mother in law asked me to help with the new RCIA class this year. I am kind of excited this could be very fun or very boring. We are meeting the new class tomorrow night. |

So I really haven't gotten anything done today so I should get off the computer and get moving. I don't think I quite over the crud that's really sapped my energy this month. Honestly it's probably allergies. Each year I get some sort of infection in August in my sinuses, nose, ears, or my eyes get just red and teary. This year I've just felt like I've had the flu for the last 3 weeks. The fabric swatches for Cydney's coat is going to do well I think. They pinked and washed just fine. There are some fun colors I just don't know if she'll like them or not. She is so difficult. Crap, reading through this I realize how many weird word choices I'm using. I am also using a very soft toothbrush so we'll see how much plaque it takes off. It's supposed to have "special" bristles. We will see. I haven't done any sewing this weekend. Bad me. I took a nap this afternoon before going out for my brother's birthday and parent's anniversary. We went over to Pat and Doug's house it was nice. While napping Jason got the other stump cut and out of the hole. It ended up being much easier than the other stump with only 2 major roots. I will have to start working on the yard tomorrow though. I did get 11 fabric swatches for my boss to check out for her new coats. Polar fleece very soft and warm and very wearable. Joann Fabrics has about 50 different colors so we at least have a lot to choose from. And I pinked a swatch to see if it would pink alright and also washed it to see how it will hold up. Looks good so far. I am kind of looking forward to this project it seems pretty easy and fast for the most part. It will also be extra money for the birthday/holiday season coming up. In the next three months I have 7 birthdays I actually buy presents for and Christmas. I think I'll cheat and sew fun stuff for people instead ;) |

| | Gangster rap at the McDonalds | ] | Blah, I got to go to the dentist this morning. One of my teeth has been hurting lately making it hard to brush. The gum looks nasty and swollen. The dentist told me it was a natural thing that happens as you get older. Unfortunately that area has really cramped teeth that jut out at a weird angle. Apparently there isn't enough bone to hold up the gums anymore so a part of the root is now exposed, which hurts like a SOB. There is nothing they can really do. They could kill the root of the tooth on that side which would mean I would have to have a crown, or live with the pain. I have gone with option B and see how long I can take it. They did put this shalac on the tooth and gum but it doesn't last long. That does remind me I need to get a softer toothbrush. The worst thing is this experience is I have to use granny toothpaste now. Sensodyne, I remember seeing that at my grandparents house and using it once. One of my worse memories of my grandparents house. God, I feel old. |

[Aug. 24th, 2006|11:18 pm] |
Gilder (my male cat) is apparently bored. He currently thinks it is very fun to chase my mouse and curser over the screen. How cute. Got done watching the first season of the new Doctor Who. Very fun, having grown up with it I was excited and little worried. However, they did a fantastic job keeping the feel and making it more modern. Sigh, Gilder is now trying to get into the cubby that is currently full of bills and things. He'll just ooze everything out and I get to clean it up later. BFI took the stump I am really impressed. It looks like they dragged it out onto the street first though. Bits of stump and torn up street. Will be working on 3 dresses for SCA one "french" 13th century and 2 Elizabethan. Also need to start finding fabric for my bosses coat. That should be a bit of a pain. She loves this old coat and wants 10 coats of different colors. I think I figured out the pattern, which I am very proud of myself by the way, now just have to find the fabric. She wants unfinshed edges that are pinked. I just don't know what kind of frabric (other than felt) I can do that with. Also have to shop for atteSmythe this weekend our 4 year anniversary is coming up with his birthday a week later. Well we didn't plan that well did we... |
